Dr. Kvedar received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Vermont, and her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Ophthalmology at Boston University Affiliated Hospitals. She spent an additional year learning Oculoplastics at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she was also an attending physician in the Emergency Ward.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Kvedar was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society at Boston University School of Medicine. She is a current member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having been in practice for more than 25 years, she has developed an expertise in Pediatric and Oculoplastic eye exams and treatment, in addition to general ophthalmology. She has a special interest in strabismus (treated with glasses, eyedrops, patching, or surgery), blepharospasm or hemifacial spasm (treated with Botulinum toxin), tearing (treated with surgery), glaucoma (treated with eyedrops or laser), eyelid diseases (treated with medicines or surgery), and amblyopia (treated with glasses, eyedrops, or patching).<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Kvedar has been on staff at Tufts New England Medical Center, and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in years past. She is currently on staff at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Winchester Hospital, although the majority of her time is spent seeing patients in her Melrose office.<\/p>\n

For the past three years, Dr. Kvedar has gone on medical missions to the Be Like Brit orphanage in Haiti. There, she examines and treats all 66 children and 100 adult workers at the orphanage. While she is in Haiti, she also volunteers by going out into the Haitian community, in churches and schools, where most patients have never seen an ophthalmologist. She brings all the glasses and medicines with her from the USA, and treats the Haitian people with whatever she can to help them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
